Photovoltaics

1、Conductive layer of solar cell

ITO serves as a transparent conductive layer in heterojunction solar cells, enhancing photoelectric conversion efficiency. It plays a particularly crucial role in flexible rechargeable energy converters, supporting advanced energy solutions with its adaptable properties.

2、Thin-film battery application

Through doping to enhance conductivity, ITO films facilitate the efficient collection of photo-generated carriers in innovative photovoltaic cells, including perovskite-based systems.

3、Sensors

ITO materials exhibit gas sensitivity and piezoresistive effects, making them ideal for applications such as gas and pressure sensors. Additionally, surface treatments can significantly improve their sensitivity and response speed, enhancing their performance in advanced sensing technologies.

4、Photoelectric detector

Due to their wide band gap of approximately 3.6 eV, ITO films hold significant potential for application in ultraviolet light detector devices, enabling efficient detection and performance in UV-sensitive technologies.

5、Other applications

  ‌● Smart window defrosting/defogging

ITO conductive coating is used in scenarios such as aircraft cockpit windows to achieve rapid defrosting function through electric heating.

  ‌● Transparent circuit integration

In wearable devices and flexible electronics, ITO films are used as transparent circuit substrates to support the thin and light design of devices. As a sputtering target (such as indium oxide doped with tungsten or indium tin oxide), it is used to prepare transparent conductive layers of high-efficiency photovoltaic cells to improve photoelectric conversion efficiency.

It is expected that by 2025, the proportion of demand for indium in the PV industry will increase significantly and become an important growth point.
